- Allows the purchase of precious metals in IRA, Roth IRA, SEP, SIMPLE, HSA, ESA, and 401(k) accounts.
- Unlike other companies, our process is simple, yet flexible in that we allow you to choose the precious metals dealer of your choice.
- When you purchase metals, you are acquiring your own metals - NOT an interest in an investment pool of metals with other investors. We will take physical delivery of metals for your account.
What Types of Metals Are Allowed?
- Only gold coins that are legal tender with 0.9999% fineness are allowed in an IRA, with the exception of the American Gold Eagle, which has a fineness of 0.9167% fineness.
- Other gold coins allowed to be put into an IRA include:
- American Buffalo
- Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
- Australian Gold Nugget
- The popular South African Krugerrand is not permitted to be included in an American IRA because it's fineness is only 0.9167%.
- The regulations that govern gold contributions to IRAs call for a minimum purity of only 0.995%, most gold bullion bars are 0.9999% pure.

- Canadian Maple Leaf coins
- Mexican Libertad coins
- Bars and rounds manufactured by a NYMEX or COMEX approved refiner/assayer or national government mint and meeting minimum fineness requirements
- All metals are currently stored at a Brinks metals storage depot.
- All metals are insured against theft, errors, and natural disasters.
- Metals are stored in a AET segregated vault and not commingled with other clients of Brinks.
How does it work?
- Open an account with uDirect IRA Services
- Fund your account
- Complete a "Direction Letter" directing us to purchase precious metals
- We have the metals purchased for your IRA
- Precious metals are stored with Brinks
- Fees - Set-up Fee $50, Annual Fee $275, Annual Storage Fee $100
